8 hours transit through Hong Kong

On my flight go to Ho Chi Minh City from Tokyo, I had a chance to explore Hong Kong in 8 hours.

The first you need to do is take airport maps at Information Desk and ask them how to go to departures level for transit passengers then follow the signs for ‘transfers’. It’s a big airport and staff speak English, Chinese and Japanese so just ask for help.

According the airport maps, departure gate at level 6 but in level 5 (arrival level) it has a food court worth trying with Ho Hung Kee and Mian Xiao Long Bao. If you join the queue for security checks to get inside, you can not go back to food court in level 5.

At food court level 7, I wanted to taste Pak Loh Chiu Chow but it has been closed. I thought it would delicious.

It’s a large food court including fast food (Mc Donald’s, Burger King, panopolis, Popeyes Chicken, Pizza Express), Japanese food (Aji Ichiban, Ajisen Ramen, Sobaten), Chinese food (Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop, Tsui Wah, Tung Fong Hung, ect.)

Different from airport staff, food court staff are only speak Cantonese, sometime Native Yue Chinese. But don’t worry, they has invoice number notification system at each counter and you just paying your attention to look at it.

I wasted my whole time to walk around food court, find some foods look delicious. I recommend you should discover Hong Kong cuisine and you’ll not regret!

Let’s enjoy your time!
